We thought the modeling industry was so terrific that we incorporated the word into the industry and came up with Model-rific. Besides, modeling.com was already taken :( We think it's pretty catchy anyway... it will grow on you!
How long has Modelrific been around?
In the scheme of things, Modelrific is a baby! Modelrific.com beta launched on July 4th, 2011 and went alpha (aka. out of testing) on September 29th, 2011. Modelrific.com was in development, design, editing, and testing, for a year prior to that. We may be young, but don't be shocked to find out that Modelrific far exceeds any of our competition and hardly compares.
Do I really need to join another modeling network?
Did you start a Facebook account even though you already had your MySpace account up and running? Sometimes change is okay, and this is definitely one of those times. While other modeling networks hardly ever update their services, look like they're 10 years old, and make you pay for meager features, Modelrific is changing the game with not just a website, but a whole array of features both on and off line. Compare our services to sites like Model Mayhem ® or One Model Place ™ and see for yourself!
Modelrific was created by photographer Geoff Sanders. View more at GeoffSanders.com.

Can I be a Modelrific staff member or moderator?

Absolutely not! While we will be providing upgrades at a later date for a tiny fee, the base Modelrific profile and account will always be free for modeling industry professionals. See for yourself how Modelrific compares with websites like Model Mayhem® and One Model Place™.

We welcome professionals in the modeling industry ranging from beginners to seasoned professionals. No we don't, not even a little.

How do I mention another member in a post?
Mentioning a member will get their attention by sending that member a notice that you mentioned them. Unlike private messages, you do not have to be friends with a member to mention them in an update. Just like Twitter, you need to @-mention their username in order for it to work. Their username may be different than their display name. You can get their username by looking at the URL of their profile. For example, a member named John Doe may have his profile at www.modelrific.com/johndoe. The username referes to "johndoe" in the URL.
How do I view a different folder inside my inbox?
There are inbox sorting options located above the first inbox thread. On the right side you will see 2 drop-down menus that will allow you to select the amount of messages you would like displayed followed by the folder you want displayed. Selecting the options you would like will automatically refresh the page with your new sorting options.
How do I move a message from my inbox to another folder?
When reading the message that you would like to move, select the folder you would like to add the message to next to "Move to" located on the right-side of the message above the first post. The message will automatically be changed to the folder you selected.
How do I create folders in my inbox?
After logging in and clicking on the Inbox tab inside your account center, click the Folders button located in the horizontal navigation menu. Choose a title for your new folder and click the Add Folder button.
How do I follow a forum topic that I don't want to reply in?
Select On inside the "Topic Notifications" widget located on the right side of the forum topic page.
How do I stop receiving forum topic reply notifications?
Go to the forum topic that you no longer would like to receive email notifications from and select Off inside the "Topic Notifications" widget located on the side of the page.
How do I send a private message to multiple members?
After logging in to your account center, click on the Inbox tab and click the Compose button located in the top row of navigation. Under "Recipients" will be a drop-down list containing all of your current friends. Click Add another recipient located below the drop-down list to add another member to this message. You may send the message to 5 members at a time.
How do I disable Twitter/Modelrific synchronization after I've enabled it?
Login to your Twitter account and go to your account settings page. Click on the Applications tab and click the Revoke Access button next to the Modelrific application. This will stop all synching between Modelrific and your Twitter account.
How do I synchronize my Modelrific account with my Twitter account?
After you are logged in to your account center, click the Twitter synchronize link located above the update box. The link will forward you to your Twitter account where you need to click the Allow button in order to allow Modelrific to communicate with your profile. Once you have done this, you will be forwarded back to Modelrific and your Modelrific updates will now show in your Twitter account and any tweets you've made on Twitter will appear in your Modelrific activity feed. To disable this, login to your Twitter account and go to your settings, click on the Applications tab, and click the Revoke Access button next to the Modelrific application.
How do I make and manage my own group?
Easy! Just fill out the form on the right side of the groups page. You can choose whether you want your new group to be public, private, or hidden. After you submit the form, click the red Admin tab to manage your group members, invite new members, update your group's description, change your avatar, and more.
How do I insert an image into a forum post?
Use "forum code" to insert images, links, and to style text. If you want to insert an image from Modelrific, you will find the forum code displayed for your convenience underneath the photo.
If you are posting a photo or image from an outside website you will use the [img] forum code. Example: [img]http://www.mywebsite.com/image/myPicture.jpg[/img] - When inserting an image like this, put the link to the image in between the [img] and [/img] tag.
To turn the image into a clickable link simply add the [a][/a] tags around the [img] tag we just created. This is just like a normal link in forum code, however you will replace the text with the image tag to your photo. Example: [url=http://www.google.com][img]http://www.mywebsite.com/image/myPicture.jpg[/img][/url] - Keep in mid the URL to your link is placed inside the starting bracket and not in between.
How do I use forum code (also known as BBCODE)?
Forum code allows you to style your text and insert items like images and links. All forum code follows a specific pattern and you will find examples of this pattern next to any text box that allows forum or BBCode. Each code will consist of two parts such as [b] and [/b]. You will place each code around the text or image you are applying that style to. For example, if you wanted to make the word "impressed" bold, you would type [b]impressed[/b] and your word will display as impressed. The trailing code will always start with [/.
How do I edit my account or manage my profile?
First, make sure you're logged in. Once you have logged in, click the "Account" button located to the right of the Modelrific logo on the top-left of the page. You will use the account center to handle all administrative issues with your membership on Modelrific.
When looking at your portfolio inside your account center, click the middle button below the photo to select that photo as your avatar. You should notice that your current avatar will always be marked with a green checkmark.
Troubleshooting
- I signed up and I haven't received any notification about my membership status. What's the deal?
- I just registered and a bunch of the navigation buttons in my account don't work!
- I found a bug or error on Modelrific.com - what do I do?
- I accidentally blocked myself from my account, what do I do?
- How do I delete an activity post or update?
- Why can't I upload a portfolio image? I keep getting errors!
I signed up and I haven't received any notification about my membership status. What's the deal?
Our team tries to review pending profiles as soon as possible to review them for activation. While this normally takes less than 24 hours, occasionally we will be backed up with work and it may take 2 or 3 days. If it has been less than 3 days since you signed up, please refrain from contacting us regarding your account for at least those 3 days. If your profile is activated by a Modelrific team member, you will be sent an activation notification in your email.
I just registered and a bunch of the navigation buttons in my account don't work!
If the links on the tabs in your account center are grey your account must still be waiting activation from a site administrator. Inactive members do not have permission to use any of the features other than updating their profile information and adding new portfolio images. Since these are the two things that a Modelrific team member will review to consider activation of your account, its pretty important you pay attention only to these anyway.
I found a bug or error on Modelrific.com - what do I do?
Please let us know if you find any errors, bugs, or other issues on Modelrific.com such as the page not displaying correctly, weird text or code showing up, or the site just not doing something your expecting. You can post a thread in the Technical Issues forum or contact us using the form on the Contact page. We appreciate the help and notice!
I accidentally blocked myself from my account, what do I do?
Oops! Contact the Modelrific team using the contact page and let us know what your problem is and we'll be glad to fix it for you ASAP.
How do I delete an activity post or update?
All activity posts that you have permission to delete (ie. you made the update) will have an X located in the top right corner of each individual post. Simply click this X and that individual post will be removed.
Why can't I upload a portfolio image? I keep getting errors!
The most common reasons photos or images are not accepted are because the image is either in the wrong format or is too large in size. Modelrific only accepts JPG or JPEG images under 500 KB in size. A JPG/JPEG image will have the ".jpg" or ".jpeg" file extension, for instance myFavoriteImage.jpg. If the file ends in .gif, .png, .tif, .psd, or any other extension besides .jpg or .jpeg the image will not be accepted.
Usually photos are too large because the image is still the original high-resolution size of the photo. A lot of programs scale the size of the photo to your monitor so you may not realize that you're trying to upload the very large image. To check the size of your file, right click on the image file and select Get Info on a Mac or Preferences on a PC. Make sure the image is not above 500 KB (or 0.5 MB). If it is, use an image processing program to reduce the size and dimensions of the the photo to a smaller size. We recommend that the image be no greater than 800px in height and 1000px in width.
