Getting paid? Get a contract first! If you are told you are getting paid, it is standard industry practice to get that in writing. This helps protect you should the client decide to default on payment.
Photographers own the copyrights to photos! If you are a model, makeup artist, or any other support crew, it is important to note that it is the photographer that legally owns the rights to that intellectual property. If you plan on using, re-posting, or selling the content it is very important that you get a release from the photographer or company that hired you for the content you want to use.
Do you know the people you are going to be working with? We recommend taking an escort along with you. An escort can provide moral support, be there in case of emergencies, and lend a helping hand. Remember, ANY reputable photographer or company will allow you to bring one escort with you.
